Printing Maintenance - Roller Repair Technician

POSITION SUMMARY :

Reporting to Printing Maintenance Supervisor, the Printing Roller Head Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the removal, installation and setup of colour head & plate cylinders, performing complete overhaul of colour heads and plate cylinders, assisting production personnel in obtaining maximum machine efficiency and productivity levels and when needed performs set-ups, changeovers on all printing machines when covering for vacation and sickness.

Performs training modifications as required, communicates machine issues to Team Members and Management. Is responsible for completing required documentation, work orders, logbooks and company records and maintains machine tooling and spare parts cabinets in an organized and professional manner.

Responsible for the removal and installation of colour head and plate cylinders

Conducts overhaul of color heads and plate cylinders

Maintains machine tooling and spare parts cabinets in an organized and professional manner.

Note : Work is performed in a production environment with moderate levels of noise. Heavy lifting and prolonged standing is required.

Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling, gripping and grasping, and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

Educational Requirements :

Minimum Experience / Field : Experience in printing manufacturing, specifically in molded plastics and / or food packaging industry preferred.

Computer Skills : Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements : Heavy lifting and prolonged standing is required. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position.

Communication Skills : Proven track record working with people and problem resolution and strong interpersonal, collaboration skills

Additional Education / Experience / Skills : Strong mechanical ability and Ability to make repairs using machine shop equipment.

Ability to replace bearings, bushings, shafts, gears and belts. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. Good basic understanding of the principles of pneumatics.

Proficient in the use of mechanics’ hand tools and in using precision measuring tools and machine shop equipment.
