This position has potential to be remote, and / or in Daytona Beach, FL.
The primary function of the Director of Academic Assessment is to lead strategic planning and visioning for academic assessment across the University.
The Director provides leadership in fostering a culture of evidence-based inquiry throughout the university in support of processes that support :
- The alignment, assessment, implementation, and improvement of all University strategic goals and initiatives impacting student learning.
- Compliance with SACSCOC The Principles of Accreditation, specifically overseeing Foundations for Quality Enhancement, Section 8.
1, Section 8.2.a, Section 8.2.b, and Section 9.6.
The implementation of the most effective and efficient assessment strategies.
The Director of Academic Assessment will :
- Lead, develop, and manage effective academic program assessment.
- Ensure that meaningful, outcome-focused assessment leads to program and student learning enhancements, and that these efforts are efficiently documented and shared with constituents.
- Partner with Deans, program coordinators / chairs, and faculty in identifying impactful narratives and telling the story of how assessment is used for continual improvement at the programmatic level.
- Lead general education assessment efforts in consultation with the One University General Education Committee.
- Assist with assessment of the University's Quality Enhancement Plan with the QEP Director.
- Consult with ERAU program accreditation faculty on all three campuses in aviation, business, project management, emergency services, and engineering programs to align their assessment efforts with accreditors' varying expectations.
- Work with Associate Vice President for Continuous Improvement and Institutional Performance in strategic and annual planning for the Office of Continuous Improvement and Institutional Performance.
- Provide program coordinators and academic administrators with professional detailed analysis of assessment rigor, usefulness, and documentation of improvements.
- Collaborate with the offices of Information Technology, Institutional Research, Centers for Teaching and Learning Excellence, Instructional Design and Development, and others as needed to ensure constituent access to appropriate institutional data in support of academic assessment.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of processes related to academic assessment and make recommendations for improved efficiency.
- Provide outstanding consultative services that represent ERAU professionally in regional and national assessment forums.
This position works under minimal supervision with latitude to exercise independent judgment and decision-making when appropriate.
It requires advanced project management, collaboration, and prioritization skills in a complex work environment.

Qualifications
Required Education : Master's Degree
Required skills, knowledge, abilities :
- Analytical skills with an in-depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook / email, and Internet end-user applications.
- Ability to motivate and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and senior management.
- Knowledge of statistical and survey research techniques.
- Strong analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in higher education assessment.
Required minimum number of years work related experience : 3-5 years.
