Summary

The Tenant Services Coordinator position involves working 40 hours per week and actively assisting tenants who were previously homeless.

The role requires a trauma-informed approach and involves various duties, such as organizing and facilitating events within the apartment building.

These events aim to enhance the wellbeing of all clients and can be social or educational in nature. The coordinator is responsible for networking with collaborators to host events and must be an effective communicator.

Additionally, they provide support to clients with severe needs, helping with cleaning, overall health, and transportation as required.

The position will be located on sight and assigned to tenants in supported units to enhance the quality of support services by serving as a mentor to clients to promote self-sufficiency and engagement in property social activities, this role also aids clients in preparing for inspections.

Essential Functions

  • Supports clients in learning and engaging in life skills such as navigating and utilizing public transportation, grocery shopping, cleaning, and accessing community resources.
  • Develops, facilitates, promotes and track wellness activities and outings for all tenants within the building in a variety of formats including small group, one on one, and large group.

Activities included but are not limited to substance use education, fitness and nutrition, employment support, food banks, social events such as birthdays and facilitating listening groups.

  • Assists with food assistance activities for clients, by going to local food banks and other resources to ensure food security for clients, under guidance of Supervisor of Case Management.
  • Identifies resources in the community that meet the need of tenants and makes information available via bulletin boards, newsletters, calendar of activities that will be disseminated to stakeholders in the community, etc.
  • Documents and communicates with team members, including case notes, pass down of pertinent client information and other administrative tasks delegated by supervisor.
  • Attends multi-disciplinary approach to services meetings, staff meetings and tenant services coordinating meetings within the department.
  • Maintains a caseload of clients with severe challenges to provide peer support. Peer support assist wellness check ins for clients who are fall risks, teaching clients how to maintain their units
  • Completes monthly outreach / tabling events to ensure clients are aware and educated of the resources available to them onsite.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in social services or a closely related field, with a minimum of one year of applicable experience working with at risk populations.
  • Or; High School diploma / GED with two years applicable professional experience working with at risk populations.
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills, empathy and compassion, ability to take on multiple tasks, and maintain a professional relationship with client, landlords / property managers, community, and internal and external collateral contacts.
  • Understanding of regulations pertaining to Mandated Reporting, limits of confidentiality, HIPAA, releases of information and an ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive or proprietary information or materials.
  • At least 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience; possesses a valid California driver's license;

no Class 1 or more than two Class 2 violations within the past 36 months

  • Ability to pass employment drug screening.
  • Some minimum requirements may be waived based on equivalent experience, life experience as a previous recipient of services, demonstrated ability, volunteer involvement, and other specific skills that highlight proficiency as it relates to the job duties detailed above.
  • Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and / or other screenings when necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be granted where appropriate.
