Job Description

As a member of the Asset Backed Capital Markets team, you will play a key role in supporting the strategic planning and capital markets needs of the various lending businesses within Block.

Block has lending vertices that serve small businesses and vertices that serve consumers. Included are more developed products like Square Loans to small business and Afterpay receivables to consumers as well as newer products in development like Cash Borrow, Loans and Advances to International Square sellers.

You will work alongside other team members to manage existing third party institutional relationships and help source new lenders and investors for Afterpay.

You will also help explore structures to help fund Block’s newer lending products. Additionally, this role will serve as an alternate point of contact for Square Loans.

This candidate will support the continued expansion of Block’s various lending businesses, and be instrumental in helping product teams improve lending products across the Block ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities include :

Design, document, and implement funding structures including but not limited to forward flow arrangements, warehouse and other leverage facilities and securitizations

Identify and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including banks, institutional investors, legal counsel, auditors and business units

Coordinate with the product and data teams to understand product roadmap and asset performance for effective communication with external funding partners

Contribute to Block’s funding growth strategy, product roadmap, and performance tracking by analyzing and evaluating current systems, capabilities and structures

Maintain policies and operational procedures

Represent Block Capital Markets at various conferences and panels, as required

Providing coaching and mentoring to individuals and teams to build capital markets capabilities

Overall, this role is critical to the ongoing success of Block’s lending products and will provide an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to make a meaningful impact and strengthen their skills in the areas of strategy development and execution.

Qualifications

8+ years of relevant industry experience with debt capital markets, structured finance, and / or investor relations

Experience in consumer and small business lending

Experience in the delivery and management of financing transactions (loan sales agreements, warehouse lending agreements)

Leadership skills with a proven ability to innovate

Superior organization and time management skills partnering with a global team

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience with SQL or Python is a plus

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area.

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.

These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A : USD $163,600 - USD $245,400

Zone B : USD $152,200 - USD $228,200

Zone C : USD $144,000 - USD $216,000

Zone D : USD $135,800 - USD $203,600
