Current Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Field Medical Directors (FMD) Metabolic Disorders with expertise in Orphan Drugs and / or Inherited Enzyme Disorders.
The individuals should proactively contribute to team dynamics, fostering collaboration and synergy. At Vanguard Pharma, we believe that a proactively engaged team, combined with flexibility and adaptability, is essential for meeting the challenges of our dynamic industry.
This FMD role is approximately 25%-50% home-based (utilizing phone, email, webinars, video-conferencing etc. to create, maintain and strengthen peer-to-peer relationships internally and external to the company), with approximately 50% - 75% travel required (medical meetings, conferences and other meetings, with some weekend travel required).

Key Responsibilities :
1 - Build and Maintain Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Relationships on behalf of the company :
Identify, establish, and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals, researchers, and key opinion leaders within the Metabolic Disorders therapeutical community
2 - Product and Disease Expertise :
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Orphan Drugs / Inherited Enzyme Disorders
- Maintain a thorough understanding and awareness of all key medical literature, clinical data, and studies for all key company products whether approved for marketing, expanding to new indications, or in development.
- Provide scientific and medical information and support to healthcare professionals, ensuring accurate and up-to-date understanding of medical information, disease expertise and of our products.
- Maintain effective and appropriate communication among internal stakeholders while maintaining full compliance with relevant requirements.
3 - Clinical Support :
- Serve as a scientific resource for internal teams and external disease experts.
- Provide clinical support for ongoing and upcoming clinical trials related to Orphan Drugs and Inherited Enzyme Disorders.
- Communicate clinical insight on new data to the company.
- Support clinical development initiatives.
4 - Educational Initiatives :
- Develop educational materials to support programs internally and for external customers.
- Train internal stakeholders on key scientific and medical topics in Metabolic Disorders.
- Develop and execute educational programs for healthcare professionals, keeping them informed about the latest advancements in the field.
- Organize and participate in scientific symposia, conferences, and other events.
5 - Cross-functional Collaboration :
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and medical affairs, to align strategies and ensure cohesive communication for all but not limited to : publications, advisory boards, medical education opportunities, training and speaker development
6 - Geographic Resource :
Generate tactical regional plans to provide needs based, value-added support of the medical and scientific community, in-line with company goals.
7 - Reporting and Documentation :
Maintain accurate reporting and documentation of FMD activities
Requirements :
- Advanced degree in a scientific / clinical discipline required - Pharm D, PhD, MD
- 5 years+ of experience in Medical Affairs or Medical Science role
- Current experience with Orphan Drugs and / or Inherited Enzyme Disorders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Understands compliance considerations and can work compliantly in every aspect of the position
- Well-established networks and active relationships with KOLs in the Metabolic Disorders community, an asset
- Has strong self-motivation, takes initiative and functions well both independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team
- Efficiently allocate time to multiple responsibilities, ensuring productivity and high-quality results
