We are seeking a contract Mechanical Design Engineer with new product development experience. This position is ideal for someone who has a strong technical background and years of experience in designing with 3D CAD.
POSTION DESCRIPTION Design and integration of complex mechanical systems Problem solving and design solutions that incorporate injection-molded plastic, machined, 3D printed, off-the-shelf, and sheet metal parts Manage assemblies of components and bill of materials and create 2D drawings using GD&T standards Identify appropriate manufacturing methods for prototyping and production Evaluate prototypes to test specifications and then improve upon the design Work closely and communicate regularly with clients to keep stakeholders apprised of project status, issues, design decisions, and risks This position requires you to work on site at Simplexity’s client office in Bellevue for at least 3 days per week and more when significant integration activities are taking place.
Full-time anticipated through the end of 2024 and possibly beyond, depending on performance and business needs. You would be working with a team of 2 other mechanical engineers under the guidance of a project manager at the client site.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree from an accredited four-year university.
4+ years of relevant, professional engineering experience. Very proficient knowledge of Creo Parametric 3D modeling required (no beginners please).
Proficient in plastic part design for injection molding, ID driven enclosures. Willingness to manage all aspects of design from concept to prototyping / manufacturing, including detailed 2D drawings using GD&T standards .
Excellent organization and analytical skills combined with attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and plan effectively.
Have a positive attitude and focus on client success. Ethical and honest in every part of the job. PLUSES TO HAVE Robotics and instrumentation design experience Mechatronics, electronics knowledge, and programming Finite Element Analysis, Computation Flow Dynamics, or experience in other simulation packages COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Two type of contractor roles will be considered : 1.
1099 contractors (have your own registered consulting / contracting business) Hourly rate $100 - $130 / hr, depending on experience No benefits, holidays, or paid time off (PTO) included 2.
W-2 contractor (employee of Simplexity) Hourly rate $75 - $95 / hr , depending on experience Excellent Healthcare plan (Medical, Dental, and Vision) fully paid for by the company for the employee;
partial payment for dependents 401(k) plan with company match after 1,000 hours of service Long-term and short-term disability, AD&D and Life Insurance No holidays or PTO Paid Sick Time eligible on the 90th day of employment, accruing 1 hour for each 40 hours worked If applicant prefers a salaried position with holidays and paid time off, that will be considered, although at a lower rate and still offered as a contract role for this particular project.
