Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our Great Lakes office. Sit in Detroit, Minneapolis or Grand Rapids and be part our international engineering practice.

This highly motivated individual will design HVAC and plumbing for all building types including laboratories, clean rooms, healthcare, and high-tech clients.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing custom solutions for unique projects, , interacting with other AECOM engineers, and developing calculations, construction drawings, and design reports under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.

Job Responsibilities :

  • The Junior Mechanical Engineer should be capable of taking direction from a Senior Engineer to complete both small and large projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients is required.
  • Candidate must be well organized, be able to demonstrate critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.
  • Have knowledge of the ASHRAE standards and building codes.
  • Have experience with analysis and layout of HVAC systems for buildings. Experience with plumbing systems, hydronic piping, and / or medical gas is a plus.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Performs work to meet deadlines

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

BA / BS + 2 years of HVAC design experience in a consulting environment or related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experince and / or education

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering software : REVIT, CAD, load calculation software, Excel
  • Construction phase experience : submittal reviews, on-site inspections, RFIs, change orders, etc.
  • Plumbing and Medical Gas design experience for hospitals and labs
