Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Clinical Operations to lead daily and strategic operations of a large vascular surgery outpatient practice.
The Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for oversight and management of the operations of multiple office sites, ensuring best business and clinical practices for each office.
The Director of Clinical Operations must be fully engaged in the unique environment of an outpatient healthcare setting, as well as in interactions with clinicians, other practices, and the community, and in compliance with governmental regulations.
This role will report to the practice's management company in addition to key physician leaders and requires an on-site presence and ability to travel regularly between practice sites.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership for day-to-day operations across all practice sites, ensuring consistent and efficient workflows
- Regularly review practice data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth, utilizing data to inform decision-making and operational strategies
- Collaborate with and take directives from senior leadership regarding practice optimization and implement solutions at the practice level
- Collaborate with department leads and clinical committees to facilitate communication and support their initiatives
- Oversee on-site leadership in each site including office managers and physician leads, ensuring respective locations are being effectively and consistently managed
- Assist with development and management of budgets for all practice sites, ensuring financial targets are met and participating in reporting of financials to senior management
- Collaborate with management team on oversight of scheduling, billing, and administrative functions to optimize practice performance
- Monitor revenue cycles, manage expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Prepare and present data-driven reports to senior management and clinical leadership
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality and patient satisfaction and enhance productivity
- Oversee activities of platform leads for clinical functions (e.g., nursing and ultrasound)
- Ensure a patient-centered approach is maintained across all practice sites, overseeing as patient concerns and feedback are addressed and implementing improvements as needed
- Oversee patient scheduling and ensure timely access to care
- Develop and implement quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of patient care in line with QUAD A and IAC accreditation standards
- Ensure all practice sites comply with relevant compliance regulations and accreditation standards, conducting regular audits and risk assessments, addressing any issues promptly
- Facilitate communication between clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure alignment of goals and objectives
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans to enhance practice growth and service delivery
- Collaborate with human resources and office managers on staff management, providing recruiting and training assistance ensuring they are well-equipped to support administrative and clinical operations
- Ensure all practice sites are equipped with necessary tools and technology to support efficient operations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare or healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Clinical license (e.g., nursing) and background strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare or healthcare management, preferably in an outpatient or surgical practice setting
- Proven track record of managing multiple practice sites and leading diverse teams
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software
