Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology (Franklin Cummings Tech) is a private, non-profit, two-year technical college located in Boston.

Founded in 1908, the college proudly continues a long tradition of educating students for high-demand technical careers in a variety of industries, including automotive, advanced manufacturing, computer technology, engineering and construction management.

5 million from the Cummings Foundation to continue to advance its leading-edge work in creating technical career pathways for students typically underrepresented in post-secondary education.

In FY22, Franklin Cummings Tech was the academic home to almost 900 learners. Half of those learners were students enrolled in traditional credit-bearing programs.

The balance enrolled in a combination of continuing education and contract education programs. In the coming years, the College seeks to boost the number of students in credit-bearing courses, while also expanding continuing education and contract education so that we are educating more than 1,000 learners a year by FY25.

Position Summary :

Franklin Cummings Tech invites applications from committed and positive professionals to teach part-time in the Department of Engineering Technology.

Courses that are taught within the Associates degree program include DC / AC Circuits, Digital Electronics, Electronics I / II, Renewable Energy Systems, Solar Energy Systems, Wind Energy Systems.

Experience teaching these courses is highly valued although industry professionals (Technician, Technologist, Engineer, etc.

Requirements :

Key Responsibilities :

  • The instructor is expected to teach one or two of the following courses :
  • EE105 Intro to Electricity and Lab
  • EE122 Electronics 1
  • EE131 Digital Principles and Lab
  • Provide technical classroom and lab instruction to all students in the applicable day or evening programs.
  • Practice and maintain all safety requirements to ensure student safety, safety requirements, practices, and procedures as required.
  • Prepare classrooms, labs, and equipment to support the instruction and use of equipment.
  • Ensure classrooms, labs, and equipment remain in good working order.
  • Basic mathematical principles.
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
  • Knowledge of and certification on related technology such as Fanuc Robotics machines
  • Act as a subject matter expert for curriculum development.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of students’ progress.
  • Maintain accurate performance and attendance records and submit required reports on or before the deadlines.
  • Assist students with study problems and with evaluating their potential for successful achievement in the course or discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of college policies and procedures.

Qualifications :

  • An earned bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in electronics / electrical engineering, engineering technology or related fields.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and connect with young people.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • An earned master’s degree
  • Two or more years teaching experience at the college or senior secondary levels; and
  • Three or more years of work experience in the industry.
