The technical product manager is responsible for creating, organizing, and maintaining product data for Munters DCT products.
The candidate must have extensive knowledge of the design and manufacturing of HVAC products. This will ensure consistency in product structure and alignment with manufacturing processes in the DCT factories.
Responsibilities
- Manage requests for feature adds and specials and add product structure as needed.
- Ensure that new products are structured properly to support manufacturing and sourcing.
- Work collaboratively with other functions including Operations Engineering, Sourcing, Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to provide smooth product launches.
- Specify and select components.
- Manage component obsolescence.
- Manage and maintain BOMs in PDM and the ERP System for processing by production.
- Maintenance of product documentation for established products such as work instructions, acceptance criteria, O&M’s, specifications, etc.
- Support product costing for use in customer quotes and new product development.
- Work within the ECO / ECN process to properly implement product changes.
- Serve as first point of contact for technical data of established products for Sales, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Field Service, and Materials departments.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks;
participating in professional societies.
- Maintain knowledge and application of applicable government standards for safety and performance.
- Attend Warranty meetings and coordinate with appropriate Engineering groups to address any systematic issues that arise in a product line.
- Support Product Management, Sourcing and Operations on product upgrades, COP initiatives and component supplier changes.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable codes and standards as they apply to the product lines.
- Develop and manage the technical product ownership team as products are released to market and additional team members are required to fulfil the responsibilities of the department.
Required Skills
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree with a focus on product design.
- 7 to 10+ years of engineering experience in mechanical equipment design.
- Knowledge of industrial / commercial HVAC components, functions, controls, design, and development.
- Strong organizational skills.
- PC skills including use of MS Office Suite.
- Proficient in Excel, Solidworks & AutoCAD.
- Proficient with written and verbal technical communication and documentation.
Desired Skills
- Solid understanding of instrumentation and controls (temperature sensors, VFD’s, actuators, etc.).
- Strong mathematical, mechanical, and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to read wiring schematics and understand sequences of operations.
- Knowledge of HVAC refrigeration systems design and operation (Air Cooled & Water Cooled).
