The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) Visiting Lecturer position (33% FTE) , non-tenure accruing, with a 4.
5-month academic appointment beginning Spring 2025. The College and the Technical Arts and Interactive Media (TAIM) Section seek an individual who demonstrates expertise in Look Development Techniques as they apply to Computer Graphics, 3D Animation, Visual Effects, Virtual Production, and / or Gaming.
Candidates should have expertise in :
- Look Development principles
- Material and shader authoring
- Texture map authoring
- Procedural techniques for texture creation
- Physically Based Rendering (PBR) & Shading principles
- Researching and analyzing source materials to be used in Look Development (e.g. creating and applying reference material for texturing)
- Design principles such as Color Theory, Composition, and Shape Language
- Either the Substance 3D or Foundry ecosystem
- Stylized or Non-photoreal (NPR) Look Development
- Scattering and Micro-dressing
- Geometry-based texturing (e.g. stitches used in embroidery)
- 3D Sculpting
Candidates should be able to teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate degree programs in Look Development (e.g. Look Development Fundamentals, Advanced Look Development Techniques, Digital Rendering).
Candidates must have a Master of Science degree in Visualization and possess 7 years of industry experience that demonstrates their expertise as an artist in Look Development .
In addition, the ideal candidate must have :
- At least two years of experience teaching Look Development principles and shading / texturing techniques in a higher education environment
- At least two years of experience providing guidance and feedback on students' creative work in a higher education setting.
