2nd Shift Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY

Responsible for all physical aspects of facility and grounds as directed by the Director of Manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • References and adheres to local, state and federal codes for continued health and safety of employees.
  • Utilizes personal safety equipment as needed including LOTO.
  • Operates powered equipment as needed.
  • Performs adjustments, repairs and PM’s on a variety of manufacturing equipment including; liquid filling machines, tube machines, sample pack machines, ink jet coding machines, mixing tanks and transfer equipment, boiler and air compressors in a GMP environment.
  • Designs and fabricates parts as needed.
  • Learns new equipment, procedures and processes as needed.
  • Supplies data and input for productivity and efficiency projects as well as justification of new equipment.
  • Responds as needed to requests from internal customers following established practices.
  • Communicates regularly, following established guidelines, with the Director of Manufacturing with regard to job status, preventative maintenance and needs of the department or others in the Company.
  • Responds to requests and directives of department managers or Director of Manufacturing regarding any and all aspects of facility maintenance.
  • May be called upon outside of normal work hours to assist in or facilitate emergency repairs.
  • Communicates essential information to the employees within the department and / or within the Company.
  • Communicates with outside vendors and contractors.
  • Works with and trains production employees on proper machine adjustment and operation.
  • Maintains work order system.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled safety inspections.
  • Oversees all facility and ground maintenance.
  • Sources parts, works with purchasing.
  • Oversees the opening and closing of the building each work day.
  • May be on call to respond to alarm issues after hours.
  • This position is responsible for following all documented cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), Work Instructions, and Policies designed to support the development, implementation, and control of the ISO 22716 : 2007 standard.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of three years maintenance technician experience in a similar environment is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
