NMO Technician IV - CNC Machinist

Summary

This role is designed to be a subject matter expert within the NMO technician job progression. This includes activities such as performing advanced technical work while applying lessons from past experiences to identify opportunities and make improvements.

This position requires solving complex problems for activities such as testing, troubleshooting, repairing, or refurbishing while fully understanding systems.

This position also supports engineering, prototypes, development, or production requirements for primarily low volume / high mix of electronic, mechanical or software related products while demonstrating advanced understanding of workmanship standards and role model and mentor characteristics.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Applies advanced development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to complex technical projects.
• Works under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision-making.
• Reads, understands, and follows work procedures to accurately record results.
• Demonstrates ability to provide informal leadership for groups of 5-7 technicians, leading them to accomplish work results tied to business objectives or work tasks within their area.
• Demonstrates ability to consistently be self-directed while understanding the priorities of the business to consistently make decisions in their day-to-day activities.
• Learns from project leads / subject matter experts while demonstrating technical aptitude.
• Uses equipment, techniques, and tools necessary to complete tasks.
• Possess ability to efficiently navigate FM&T portal or other shared resources and locate key applications or documentation when required.
• Demonstrates ability to effectively engage with FM&T customers and represent the company in a positive light.
• Understands, actively utilizes and leads others to utilize all elements of Honeywell Operating Sytems (HOS) and Management Operating Systems (MOS)
• Creates, modifies or trains others on work procedures.

You Must Have

• 5+ years of experience in a related technical role with formal training or practical experience equivalent to technical knowledge obtained in military training courses or through a two-year technical degree.
• Bachelor of Science degree or technical certification in from an ABET accredited program or 2 additional years of experience.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
• United States Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

• Custom machining for prototype and production utilizing CNC; includes 3-, 4-, 5-, 7-axis CNC milling, engine lathes, 2-, 3-, 4-axis turning center, 7-axis dual-spindle mill-turning center, multi-axis EDM wire
• External / internal threading, parting / cutting, facing; and contour, form, taper, and straight turning
• Boring / counterboring, countersinking, drilling, pocketing, profiling, reaming, tapping, thread milling, knurling
• Fixturing : three- and four-jaw chucks, 5th-axis work-holding system, tooling, vacuum fixturing for milling, and turning
• Materials : alloy / stainless steels, aluminum, brass / bronze alloys, carbon steel, iron, inconel, titanium, copper, basic / engineered plastics
• Programming and / or expertise with Software / file formats : CAD, CAM, MasterCam 2019-2023, AutoCAD, Inventor, Pro-E, SolidWorks;

and IGES, STEP, DXF, DSI, PDES, PDF file formats

Tolerances : shear cutting 0.015", milling / turning 0.0005", wire EDM 0.0002", welding 0.015" (17.1 specification certified)
