The City of Newnan Garage is currently seeking an experienced and reliable Mechanic to join our City Garage staff. This team is responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs as needed, to performing complete overhauls.

Scope of vehicles includes machinery, firetrucks, police cars, heavy equipment and specialized vehicles.

The City Garage strives to maintain a clean work environment through teamwork and to provide a friendly and functional work environment.

Essential Responsibilities :

Maintain fleet of cars, trucks, heavy equipment, tractor / trailers, and other motor vehicles.

Perform routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.

Perform tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function.

Identify mechanical problems visually and with computer diagnostic equipment.

Examine critical parts and systems using a standard checklist.

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, engines, and other mechanical parts.

Test drive vehicle to confirm safe and proper operation.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent k nowledge and level of competency associated with completion of specialized training and basic skills typically associated with a high school education.

Valid driver's license.

Experience understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship or internship or having had a similar position for a minimum of 2 years.

Diesel engine knowledge and repair experience preferred.

Ability to obtain a CDL license (class A or B) within 6 months.

A.S.E. certification and / or technical school preferred, but not required.

Candidate must successfully complete pre-employment Background Check, Motor Vehicle History and Drug Screen.
