Overview :

Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager (NM), directs, coordinates, and controls the nursing activities of his or her assigned staff.

Assists the NM in evaluation of assigned staff and in completion of assigned projects. The Nurse RN Charge provides care for a group of patients utilizing the Nursing Process.

The Nurse RN Charge may also provide nursing care to patients in select phases of Perioperative care based on demonstrated competencies.

Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. Responsible for maintaining nursing schedules, orientation of new employees.

Qualifications : Required Education :

Required Education :

Associate's degree. Specific course work : (If applicable) : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Completion of the OB RN Surgical Scrub Competencies training course.

New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.

New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position.

Current employees who were hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.

2 L&D / Womens Services-North TA ((phone number removed)), 3N Obstetrics ((phone number removed)), and Labor and Delivery ((phone number removed)), effective 07 / 01 / 2018, all current employees are required to have AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced by 07 / 01 / 2019 and must renew it every two (2) years.

New hires and transfers are required to have AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced within one (1) year of hire or transfer and must renew it every two (2) years.

Preferred Education :

Required Licensure / Certifications :

Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida

BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas

ACLS required at hire for Code Blue Team ((phone number removed))

ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer for 3 ICU-North TA ((phone number removed))

2 L&D / Womens Srvcs-North TA ((phone number removed)), 3N Obstetrics ((phone number removed)), and Labor and Delivery ((phone number removed)), effective 07 / 01 / 2018, all current employees are required to have ACLS by 07 / 01 / 2019.

New hires and transfers are required to have ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.

PALS required within 6 months for hire or transfer for Code Blue team ((phone number removed))

NRP required within 6 months of hire or transfer for Code Blue team ((phone number removed)), 2 L&D / Womens Srvcs-North TA ((phone number removed)), 3N Obstetrics ((phone number removed)), and Labor and Delivery ((phone number removed))

2 L&D / Womens Srvcs-North TA ((phone number removed)) and Labor and Delivery ((phone number removed)), STABLE-sugar, temp, airway, BP, lab work, emotional support requirement.

Effective 07 / 01 / 2018, all current employees are required to have STABLE by 07 / 01 / 2019 and must renew it every two (2) years.

New hires and transfers are required to have STABLE within 6 months of hire or transfer and must renew it every two (2) years.

Necessary Skills :

1. Adheres to hospital and Florida Nurse Practice Act guidelines in providing patient care.
