Fearless is looking for a Software Test Engineer II to add to our diverse team of 250+ employees (and counting!).

The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Test Engineer is responsible for supporting software testing for their team. They build the tests that are used to ensure delivery of quality code and captures bugs in a way that enables the dev team to successfully act upon them.

Typically operates under the guidance of more experienced engineers.

Requirements

MUST have 5-10 years of experience, advanced skills with constructing APIs, Java, and Azure.

Responsibilities And Contributions

  • Develop and execute software test plans to identify software problems and their causes.
  • Defines project-level test strategies that align with the organization and quality objectives.
  • Facilitates conversations with team members and Product Owners to outline quality mission and objectives.
  • Advocates for the test strategy with the Engineers and teaches Engineers to perform good tests and build effective automation.
  • Coaches and supports the team in authoring automated tests for a variety of scenarios, like data validation, feature testing, and performance testing.
  • Reviews, writes, and updates automated tests as appropriate for effective coaching of team members.
  • Collaborates with Engineers and Designers to build test plans that focus on feature delivery and usability.
  • Collaborates with Software Developers and senior team members to understand the technical implementation of features and to advocate for and monitor the implementation of testing strategies.
  • Plans various types of testing, including systems and integration testing, regression testing, performance and load testing, compliance testing, and release testing.
  • Performs manual exploratory testing, both on their own and with the team, as appropriate for the project test strategy.
  • Assists with software debugging issues and performs root cause analysis to identify problems in design and / or implementation.
  • Ability to operate and manage work, strategically reason, and build relationships and influence others.

  • Experience with TOTP
  • Proficient with context-driven test methodologies to formulate appropriate strategies based on specific details of each project.
  • Proficient developing project-level test strategies and building test plans that define why, how, and when testing principles are applied, including the use of exploratory testing and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand how a system works and identify key risks to quality.
  • Basic understanding of automation tools like Cypress, Selenium, Jest, JUnit, JMeter, etc in order to review and write automated tests with the team.
  • Basic understanding of one software language, such as Node.js, Java, or Python.
  • Experience driving quality through process.
  • Experience communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings.

Icing-on-the-Cake Skills

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, or similar technology-related degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate quality discovery and planning sessions like risk-storming.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and challenge assumptions.

Location :

Our approach to compensation is intended to ensure our total package serves all of your needs and includes base pay, medical and other benefits, performance rewards, 401k matching, plus a few perks (tech and wellness reimbursement programs)! The salary ranges for this position based on location are listed below.

The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified as a part of our annual salary range review.

  • AL, FL, GA, TN Residents : $90,015(min) - $117,019 (mid) - $144,024(max)
  • NC Residents : $92,799 (min) - $120,639 (mid) - $148,478 (max)
  • DE, MD, PA, TX, VA Residents : $97,439 (min) - $126,671 (mid) - $155,902 (max)
  • DC Residents : $109,503 (min) - $142,354 (mid) - $175,204 (max)
  • CA & NY Residents : $113,215 (min) - $147,179 (mid) - $181,143 (max)
