We empower public high schools to achieve sustainable excellence through alumni and community development and fundraising and position our nonprofit partner Foundation, The Endowment Project Foundation, for high-impact grantmaking.
Through strategic fundraising initiatives, we aim to provide vital dollars to create a lasting positive impact on students, teachers, and communities.
Job Overview :
TEP is seeking proven, highly motivated, and results-oriented Sales and Non-Profit Development Professionals to join our team.
This is a unique opportunity for proven, talented, driven professionals with backgrounds in sales and / or fundraising to contribute significantly to the improvement of public high schools across the nation.
As a Director of Development, you will play a crucial role in securing donations directly from public school alumni, parents, grandparents, and community businesses, fostering donor relationships, and driving the success of our fundraising initiatives.
Ideally, this role would be a hybrid role, including two to three days per week on site in our Richmond, VA offices.
Responsibilities :
- Identify and cultivate leadership annual gift and major gift prospects, including individuals, corporations and foundations.
- Develop and implement direct fundraising strategies to meet and exceed fundraising targets, with a focus on major gifts.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with donors, stakeholders, and partners.
- Collaborate with the TEP team to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and objectives.
- Utilize data and analytics to inform fundraising strategies and identify potential opportunities.
- Represent TEP professionally in various settings, including virtual and in-person meetings.
- Launch and develop partnerships with individual high schools, managing relationships with principals and other educational leaders.
- Working with a team to develop Annual Giving and Alumni Relations strategies to fuel transformative giving.
Qualifications :
- Proven track record of success in achieving growth targets in nonprofit fundraising or B2C sales.
- Detailed sales / fundraising pipeline metrics including leads generated; meetings / calls booked and asks / solicitations made; closing / win rates.
- Quantitative descriptions of sales / fundraising territories, sales targets, and average amounts of sales / gifts.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors.
- Experience working independently and remotely, demonstrating self-motivation and discipline.
- Passion for education and a commitment to TEP's mission of improving public education.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, or start-up environments.
Desired Experience :
- Demonstrated success in breaking into and developing new markets or territories.
- Demonstrated success in selling new products or services or fundraising for innovative philanthropic models.
- Virginia and East Coast US High Net Worth Individuals or Grantor relationships, especially those concerned with youth / education.
- Knowledge of major gifts fundraising best practices.
- Knowledge of annual fund best practices in nonprofit education.
