At Vista Medical Center East, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional care and innovative solutions to our patients. We are seeking a dynamic Surgical Services Director to lead our Surgical Services team, which includes the Operating Room, PACU, Anesthesia, GI, Same Day Surgery, and Cath Lab.
This role is pivotal in ensuring successful outcomes and delivering the highest level of care.
Key Responsibilities :
Clinical Excellence : Drive superior clinical outcomes by identifying and implementing advanced strategies and evidence-based practices.
Monitor and analyze clinical performance, report trends, and use clinical research to enhance care quality.
Quality & Performance Improvement : Lead initiatives to elevate quality, minimize risks, and enhance patient safety. Develop metrics, gather and analyze performance data, and spearhead continuous improvement efforts.
Customer Service : Foster a culture of exceptional service by addressing and resolving service concerns, performing patient rounding, and ensuring daily rounding activities are completed.
Staff Management : Recruit and retain top talent, design and deliver comprehensive orientation programs, manage staffing schedules, and promote staff engagement and professional development.
Monitor productivity and performance, and handle performance appraisals and corrective actions.
Service Line Growth : Develop strategies to expand patient volumes and engage in marketing and business development to promote services and educate the community.
Financial Management : Oversee the budget, identify cost-saving opportunities, manage resources efficiently, and collaborate with the Case Management team to meet financial goals.
Educate the care team on the financial aspects of patient care.
Compliance : Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations, Joint Commission standards, and company policies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance requirements.
Leadership : Provide visionary leadership, serve as a change agent, and mentor future nursing leaders. Act as a role model in professional practice and decision-making.
Communication & Relationship Building : Build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, physicians, and other stakeholders.
Advocate for patient care, quality, and professionalism.
Healthcare Industry Knowledge : Stay informed about healthcare delivery models, economics, and policy. Educate staff on industry trends and challenges.
Information Management : Utilize advanced data management tools to support patient care planning and decision-making.
Nursing Duties : Assist with nursing care and maintain current nursing knowledge and skills as needed.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Nursing
- 3 - 5 years of nurse management experience
- 5 - 7 years of experience in surgical services
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- CPR, ACLS, & FEMA 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications required
- Strong background in clinical practice, quality improvement, and financial management.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to drive change and inspire a team towards excellence.
