This position is for an Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will have experience in the areas of :
- Litigation
- Special Education (not required but a big plus)

Candidates must have experience with New York State Law and Procedures. Will consider experience during law school if you worked as a paralegal or a law clerk with litigation experience.

Hours And Compensation
- Hours : Full-time hours
- $400 / Month Stipend towards Health Insurance Costs
- 21 Days of PTO + additional 5 sick days
- Compensation : $70,000 - $90,000.00 based on skill and experience. Will consider experience during law school if you worked as a paralegal or a law clerk.

Qualifications
- Experienced in New York litigation for 2+ years minimum (Can include paralegal and law clerk experience)
- Status must hold a valid New York Bar license in good standing
Requirements
- Litigation experience in New York, handling cases from inception through all stages of litigation to resolution or trial.
- Ability to meet with new and current clients to understand their needs and concerns and determine how to best address them.
- Ability to manage diverse caseload, draft documents, obtain documents and records from clients and state and local agencies, be familiar with all aspects of Special Education Laws in the State of New York.
- Ability to review and edit legal documents, witness affidavits, direct examination questions, relevant notices, witness affidavits, due process complaints in the area of Special Education Law in the State of New York.
- Ability to propound, analyze and answer discovery.
- Ability to negotiate with opposing counsel for possible settlements.
- Ability to represent clients at impartial hearing administrative proceedings, including direct and cross-examination of witnesses.
- Ability to draft opening statements and closing briefs, draft and finalize stipulations of settlement.
- Ability to create and maintain electronic case files.
- Ability to conduct legal research.
- Ability to prepare appeals to the Office of State Review.
- Ability to assist in the management of paralegals and administrative staff in various pre- and post-litigation tasks.
- Ability to communicate with clients, attorneys, opposing counsels, and judicial offices professionally.
- Ability to represent clients at hearings and administrative proceedings.
- Must be a self-starter and resourceful.
