Golden Years Homemakers & Companion is seeking a Personal Care Assistants (PCA) for a live-in postion located in the Madison CT area.
Ideal candidate will be hard working, compassionate, and willing to provide services to an elderly women in a homecare setting.
Qualifications :
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Minimum of six (6) months work experience in a supervised setting, preferably health care facility.
- Experience providing ca re to elderly or disabled persons in the home setting.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow a written Plan of Care.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable means of transportation to / from all assignments.
- Valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance on vehicle.
- Bilingual in English / Spanish, preferred but not required
- Available to work every other weekend
Responsibilities
- Performs household services essential to health care at home, including but not limited to : Meal preparation / feeding, Laundry, Light housekeeping.
- Remind patients to take medications that are ordinarily self-administered under the direction and supervision of patient and / or family members
- Performs personal care activities, including but not limited to : Bathing, Shampooing, Skin care / nail care, Oral hygien, Shaving, Dressing
- Performs routine housekeeping duties
- Reports any observed or reported changes in the client's condition and / or needs to the Care Coordinator.
- Documents care provided and completes the forms required for the client's records. Completes the appropriate records to document care given and pertinent observations.
- Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following Agency guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the Care Coordinator.
- Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment. Does not use equipment until orientation about its operation has been provided.
Notifies supervisor of educational needs.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the agency staff through verbal reports, participation in staff meetings, and team conferences, as requested.
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Successfully completes annual skills competency validation.
- Attends in-service programs to meet compliance requirements.
