The GSC R&D Color group is seeking a Group Leader to manage and support the Color Initiatives for maintenance on business and new product development for CBG paint, wood stains, and concrete stains for North America and International point of sales requests.
This position will be responsible for the direction and leadership of approximately 7-10 direct reports within the Color group and be responsible for managing and developing projects to support GSC Product Technology and Commercialization groups and other stake holders with the respective color initiatives.
Responsibilities include : 1. Support Business Needs a. Works with Manager to plan color work to support the business for CBG paint as well as CBG and TAG Stains.
b. Works with Brands Data Business Analyst to scope project work and set timelines c. Coordinates work and resources to meet timelines d.
Manages team to complete work correctly and on time e. Provides status updates and attends business meetings with CBG Marketing and Product Development labs f.
Works with Manager in developing and implementing strategies g. Coordinates complaint investigations and resolutions for color formulas h.
Identifies opportunities for Continuous Improvement and leads projects to implement improvement initiatives 2. Communication a.
Communicates projects and tasks to team members b. Communicates timelines and priorities to team c. Provides status updates to Manager, AD and Sales & Marketing d.
Works with others outside of team to gather information for project scoping 3.Safety a. Follows guidelines of 5S, HKE and other safety rules b.
Attends Safety Meetings and completes make-ups when absent c. Takes corrective action when a safety issue is identified d.
Presents safety topics at team meetings e. Ensures staff is trained and follows guidelines f. Ensures office and lab areas are kept up to standards 4.

- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics ("STEM") field KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE : Required :
- Must have at least 1 year of supervisory or project management experience
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- High level of initiative and leadership ability
- Proven problem-solving / decision-making ability Preferred :
- 3 years of Color Formulation or related field
- Paint / Coatings Experience
- 3 years of relevant experience within R&D and with coatings development (formulation, processing, testing)
- Experience in Stains color matching
- Wood & Concrete Stain Product Knowledge
- Understanding of / Experience within SW business TECHNICAL / SKILL REQUIREMENTS : Required :

- Ability to plan project timelines and allocate resources Preferred :
- Strong computer skills (MS Applications including Access)
- Understanding of Color / Color Science TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS : 10% Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio.
Construction is expected to be complete in Q4 2024. Until then, the role will be based at Breen Technology Center, located at 601 Canal Road, Cleveland, OH 44113.
