About The Role
Morningstar is looking for an Associate Visual Designer to help develop collateral across a variety of mediums including print, digital, and live events to join our Morningstar Retirement business, which provides investment advisory and management solutions to the broader retirement market.
In this role, you will create compelling materials that help differentiate and promote our unique service offerings to B2B and B2C audiences.
Associate visual designers at Morningstar collaborate with writers and content strategists, marketers, product managers, sales, and business owners to develop experiences that express the Morningstar brand.
This position is based in our Chicago office. We follow a hybrid policy of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote work.
You'll Be Great At
- Making informed design decisions around typography, space, color, and iconography while utilizing the Morningstar Design System and expressing the Morningstar brand.
- Partnering with lead / senior designers in creating collateral for projects including digital web experiences, email campaigns, social media, printed collateral, events, and conference exhibiting, and other branded communications.
- Making complex information understandable and formulating design concepts that are engaging, attractive, and user-friendly.
- Applying problem-solving methods for creating new marketing / product content while following brand guidelines.
You'll Also Do Things Like
- Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and UX designers on your squad to make product decisions.
- Clearly articulate design decisions and share your process when appropriate.
- Participate in critiques, workshops, design studios, and other design activities.
- Demonstrate design skills, especially concerning typography, information hierarchy, and data visualization.
- Be curious, resourceful, and have a desire to contribute to solving challenging information and communication design problems.
- Have excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; be self-directed, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent experience / training in the graphic arts.
- 1-2 years of experience in design and knowledge in the following programs : Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Figma, and Mac OS X.
Nice to have
Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
