This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines.

To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will as a part of a small, multi-functional team, you’ll help specify, develop, code, and commission Software and Firmware products for Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) on our Lunar Lander program, Blue Moon - .

In a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you will develop software that supports spacecraft integration, test, and launch operations to ensure a safe and successful mission.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to :

Spacecraft Integration, Test & Launch Operations Software Development

  • As part of a multi-functional hardware and software team you will collaborate with Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and Integrated Ground System (IGS) Engineers developing, maintaining, upgrading, and making functionality improvements to test equipment and spacecraft testing software.
  • You will interface with Flight Software (FSW) and Ground Software (GSW) Engineers to support interpretation of Spacecraft Flight Software Requirements, Features, and Functionality for testing Software Scripts and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI’s) development.
  • Working closely with Spacecraft Integration & Test (I&T) Engineers, write EGSE and Spacecraft command, control and data acquisition Software Scripts and develop GUI’s.
  • Then, with these I&T Engineers, dry run, debug, and commission EGSE, IGS and Spacecraft Test and Launch Operations Software and GUI’s
  • Collaborate with I&T Engineers to generate and maintain Test Requirements Cross Verification Matrices.
  • Provide Spacecraft Testing and Off Nominal condition Troubleshooting and Cause & Corrective Action support as required.
  • Perform data reduction, analysis, and archival products and support for Spacecraft testing data and telemetry.
  • Participate in Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and post-test, Data Reviews.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Passion for our mission : Millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth!
  • BS in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline.
  • 0 - 2 years of applicable software development experience
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.

S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • C / C++ and or Python Software Development, preferably in both Windows and Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) & Community Enterprise Operating System (CentOS) Linux
  • Qt Modeling Language (QML)
  • GitLab
  • Visual Studio Code (VScode)
  • Specifying and or utilizing Software Requirements
  • Using Real Time Innovations (RTI) tools for Data Distribution Service (DDS) messaging
  • Serial Communication protocol familiarity (eg. RS-422, RS-485) including developing software to establish Receive / Transmit (Rx / Tx) ports in the Host machine.
  • Unit testing using Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI / CD) pipelines.
  • Software Performance Testing with a focus on Latency
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Familiar with SCPI commands for communication with test hardware (IEEE-488.1)
  • Experience using vendor provided software libraries.
  • Understanding of test equipment hardware (RF Power Meter, Logic Analyzers, PCIE cards, Power Supplies, etc.)
