Job Summary
The Dream Center at Salt Lake Community College is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic student to fulfill a work-study position.
This position will focus on supporting Dream Center operations, like assisting in marketing efforts, advocating for their peers, and participating in the coordination of workshops and events.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping others, possess strong communication skills, and be eager to contribute to the Dream Center’s mission.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Peer Advocacy & Outreach :
- Serve as a peer advocate by providing support and guidance to fellow students navigating college resources and services.
- Participate in outreach activities like tabling, and presenting to connect with and support undocumented students (with and without DACA) as well as members of mixed-status families.
- Inform and educate students about the policies that are affecting them in relation to accessing and navigating higher education and career attainment.
Center Operations :
- Assist with general office duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, and collecting data.
- Represent the SLCC Dream Center as part of Student Engagement, Experience, and Achievement (SEEA).
- Support the coordination and execution of Dream Center events and initiatives.
Marketing Support :
Collaborate with the Dream Center team to create engaging content for our website, social media, newsletter, and other communication channels.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a current student at Salt Lake Community College eligible for or awarded work-study.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills or the willingness to improve interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team either in-person and virtually.
- Passionate about advocating for students served by the SLCC Dream Center.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience with graphic design, marketing, social media platforms and / or content creation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
