Assistant/Associate or Full Professor (Tenure Track) - Pharmacoeconomics

The USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics invite applications for a fulltime, -month per year, tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to conduct research and teaching in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Health Economics (DPHE).

This position seeks individual with skills and experience in research, teaching and mentoring in the both the graduate and professional doctoral programs at the School.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing an independent research program in a field of health and drug and medical device economics and policy such as cost-benefit or cost-effectiveness analyses, modeling and projection, machine learning, or related fields.

Collaborative efforts with the School’s Department of Clinical Pharmacy, USC Program on Medicines and Public Health, and the Department of Regulatory and Quality Sciences along with faculty from the Keck School of Medicine and the Sol Price School of Public Policy is encouraged.

Teaching responsibilities include mentoring postdoctoral fellows, graduate and professional students, and teaching basic and advanced coursework in pharmacoeconomics at the professional, graduate and postdoctoral levels.

Routine faculty administration and participation duties, such as attendance at departmental and full faculty meetings and committee service, as well as annual review submissions and peer-to-peer teaching evaluations are expected.

Educational Requirements :

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Decision Science or closely related field.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Demonstrated expertise in pharmacoeconomics / health policy / quantitative applications.
  • An outstanding track record of obtaining extramural funding to support research. Assistant professor applicants must demonstrate a formulated approach to develop an extramurally funded research program and an existing quality publication record.

Senior-level faculty applicants are additionally expected to have an excellent and nationally / internationally acknowledged track record of publications and presentations in the relevant field.

  • Portfolio of superior / innovative teaching and mentoring at the graduate and postdoctoral levels.
  • Prior examples of teaching experience, excellence and content and performance evaluations are requested. Qualified candidates will preferably have demonstrated experience or leadership in diversity and inclusion within their prior academic and professional work environments that they can bring to the education setting.

The rank of Assistant / Associate / Full Professor is provided commensurate with the research and scholarly accomplishments, assessed teaching capabilities, and expertise in the field of study.

The tenure decision date will be determined prior to beginning the tenure-track period upon employment. Promotion and Tenure is determined by recommendation of the School of Pharmacy and by the university’s committee on academic promotions and tenure to the Provost’s office, where the ultimate decision is made.
