Facility Maintenance Worker
This position is responsible for maintaining and beautifying the facilities of the Columbus Police Department.
Major Duties and Responsibilities :
- Empties trash.
- Cleans bathrooms.
- Sweep, mops, vacuums, buffs, and dusts floors.
- Shampoos carpet.
- Assists in setting up equipment for special events.
- Unloads trucks as needed.
- Washes cars as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of department policies and procedures.Knowledge of maintenance and custodial techniques.Knowledge of the use of cleaning chemicals.Skill in the operation of vacuum cleaners, buffers, shampooers, and wet vacs.Skill in oral and written communication.Minimum Educational and Training Requirements :
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship / internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Physical Requirements :
The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, walking, crouching, bending, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts heavy objects and climbs ladders.

The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
