Senior Security Officer (full time, variable shift position) at Providence Portland Medical Center

$2,000 hiring / sign-on bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer. Performs a variety of intermediate level technical security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

• Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigates reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property;
• responds and assists in restraining patients; detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer;

and provides protective services to high risk areas. May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Required qualifications :

• Coursework / Training and Successful completion of one of the following :
• Certified law enforcement academy, such as corrections, police, reserve or military police, or Completion of certified military training or Healthcare Security Officer Advanced or Supervisor Certification through IAHSS.
• Coursework / Training and Successful completion of 5 additional FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses from Security Services Approved Course List.
• H.S. Diploma or GED
• Upon hire : Oregon Private Security Armed / Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Or
• Upon hire : Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Or
• Upon hire : Oregon Private Security Temporary Work Permit
• 3 years of experience in security or law enforcement in lieu of associates degree
• Experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.

Preferred qualifications :

• Associate's Degree
• Coursework / Training and College level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.
• Direct patient experience in a healthcare industry.
