Job Summary :
The Sports Medicine Specialist will provide athletic trainer services and perform administrative tasks for individuals and organizations under JAG PT outreach athletic training contracts.
Key Responsibilities :
- Establish and maintain an effective athletic training program for the contracted organization.
- Provide athletic trainer services for athletic events and competitions.
- Offer first aid, injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for contracted organization's athletes.
- Document injuries, illnesses, treatments, and rehabilitation following professional practice standards.
- Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
- Deliver in-services and educational programs on health and fitness topics to schools, coaches, athletes, and communities.
- Act as the workers compensation case manager for contracted teams, including submitting insurance information and tracking compensation claims within guidelines.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and assist with departmental administrative duties and day-to-day operations.
- Contribute to marketing initiatives, departmental improvement, and growth projects.
- Oversee the ordering of athletic trainer supplies and equipment and maintain an up-to-date inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training (CAATE Approved program) and completion of the BOC certification.
- Licensed in the state of practice as an Athletic Trainer.
- Maintain Personal Liability Insurance.
- Flexibility and adaptability necessary to adjust to fluid situations.
