Position : Middle School Special Education Teacher
Location : North Carolina
Type : Full-Time
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the needs of students with diverse learning abilities
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both inclusive and self-contained classroom settings
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods to ensure optimal learning outcomes
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, including IEP documentation and progress reports
- Utilize the NC Medicaid billing system for eligible services (experience preferred)
- Participate in professional development and stay current with best practices in special education
- Support students in developing social, emotional, and behavioral skills
Educational Requirements :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred)
- Valid North Carolina Teaching License in Special Education (K-12)
NC Special Education Certifications :
- Special Education : General Curriculum (K-12)
- Special Education : Adapted Curriculum (K-12)
- Additional endorsements in specific disability areas (e.g., Autism, Emotional Disabilities) are a plus
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with the NC Medicaid billing system
- Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment
