Position Summary
The designs and develops production layouts, processes and work methods for harvest, remanufacturing and warehouse operations to increase productivity and quality standards.
Their main duties include reviewing current production and processes to find potential improvements. Designing layouts, processes and material flow to estimate and improve production costs for new product launches.
Responsibilities :
- The Industrial Engineer will be a key member of a team that supports vehicle harvest, EV battery inspection / grading / remanufacturing and warehouse operations.
- Ability to work with a cross-functional team and manage new product development projects from product engineering handoff through production launch and production sustainment.
- Implement process improvements and use technology to increase efficiency in existing manufacturing processes.
- Create viable solutions for a variety of challenges. Whether it is to improve the production of a certain product or to reduce waste, the ability to develop a plan to overcome the problem is important.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency through the analysis and planning of workflows, space requirements, capacity utilization and equipment layouts.
- Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
- Develop and assist in the investigation and implementation of new products and processes relevant to efficiency and profitability gains.
- Implement and support lean manufacturing systems and work closely with other functions toward ongoing labor & material productivity, quality, and design cost improvements.
- Generate cost estimates and implementation schedules to meet or exceed both program costs and timing objectives.
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with all team members.
- Provide technical support for all shop floor processes, maintenance, and vendor activities with respect to maintenance, process engineering, lean manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Evaluate purchased part suppliers for adherence to quality standards and ability to meet functional requirements.
- Maintain Bill of Materials for all part numbers to minimize manufacturing cost variance.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Engineering bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in manufacturing / production.
- Lean / Continuous Improvement training and application experience preferred.
- 3-5+ years of recent experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to design basic layouts, assembly tooling, fixtures and controls preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD or similar software product.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to travel 30-50% to support multiple facilities
