JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

The Office of Physical Plant, Maintenance and Operations at Penn State Harrisburg invites applications for part-time janitorial workers for afternoon / evening and overnight shifts.

Shifts may vary depending on coverage needs.

Job Duties

• Clean classrooms, Offices, Restrooms and Public Spaces as assigned.
• Dust mop and wet mop floors, vacuum carpet and rugs, and clean stairways.
• Remove accumulated waste and debris from buildings as required.
• Move and / or relocate furniture, equipment, and supplies; unload incoming materials and move to storage locations.
• Operate various types of floor scrubbing, buffing and shampooing equipment.
• Assist in setup and clean-up of chairs, tables, stages, etc., at various campus locations for banquets, meetings, athletic and other scheduled events.
• Operate motor vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and personnel between building work sites.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition, report unusual conditions to supervisor.
• Shovel snow and apply ice melt and other anti-skid materials on walks and driveways using small power and / or hand tools as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

Ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
