Summary
The Paramedic is a licensed Paramedic and functions under the direct supervision of the Staff Nurse, Department Director, or Clinical Manager of the unit.
He / she assists with patient care by performing clinical & supportive functions that he / she has documented competency to perform.
The Paramedic adheres to policy, procedures & established standards of practice.
Qualifications
EDUCATION :
Minimum : High school diploma or equivalent; Minimum education required for licensure as a Paramedic in the State of Florida.
EXPERIENCE : None required. One (1) year of Emergency Services experience preferred.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE / REGISTRATION : State of Florida Paramedic License; BLS and ACLS certification; CPI certification within three (3) months of hire into position.
EKG competency on hire.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS : Completes blood draw competency within 3-months of hire into position.

The Paramedic holds shift accountability for providing care to patients in accordance with recognized techniques, standards of practices and hospital policy and procedures.
Education :
Required : Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic training course.
Experience :
Required : Paramedic experience.
Preferred : Experience in an emergency room.
Certifications :
Required : Currently licensed as EMT-P; BLS; ACLS; and PALS within 6 months of hire.
Preferred : Neonatal resuscitation program (NRP), basic and advanced trauma life support.
