Job Description :
Community Health Education Educators facilitate evidence-based programs in community settings, virtually or telephonically to members of the community.
Potential candidates possess a desire to help members of the community learn skills they need to self-manage chronic health conditions and live their healthiest lives possible.
This position provides specialized education for patients, families, and members of the community. The RN Community Health Educator position conducts training from approved curriculum resources.
This position may conduct needs assessment and individualize educational activities as appropriate for participants. This position participates in curriculum updates and revisions based on current research and policy revisions.
Must feel comfortable with a camera on, presenting classes, virtually, to patients and in person . Must be able to teach patients and manage a group class of 1-20 participants without difficulty.
Should have excellent communication skills. Must know how to use excel spreadsheets and document in electronic health systems.
This caregiver will need to travel to the Nevada Corporate office once or twice a month for training and teaching at times, as well as for ongoing training purposes.
Scope
Job Essentials Implements education programs for designated group(s) and / or unit(s). Teaches classes and adapts delivery of education to meet audience needs.
Provides effective coaching to patient, family or community as necessary. Participates in curriculum updates and revisions based on current research and policy revisions.
Remains current with applicable clinical information and increases knowledge utilizing research-based information. Takes accountability for personal development and knowledge base.
Maintains clinical competency in designated area for age groups served.
Oversees applicable supplies (as needed per educational content). Performs all accountabilities of Registered Nurse for patient care (as applicable), including all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Follows-up with patients as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Current RN License in state of practice.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Unit specific certification as required (i.e., ACLS, PALS, etc).
Applicants must either have required additional certifications (e.g. ACLS, PALs, NRP) upon hire or must obtain them within a specified timeframe determined by service line and department guidelines.)
RNs hired or promoted into this role need to have or obtain their BSN within three years of hire or promotion.
Two years of RN experience working in the department or specialty care area.
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
Experience in a role requiring collaboration and strong customer service orientation, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with professionals at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and consensus-building communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to teach, present and facilitate learning activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, or Training / Development.
Certification in Nursing Professional Development.
Experience with effectively utilizing information systems, software, and technologies to design, develop, and deliver learning, including Learning Management Systems, Learning Content Management System, and E-learning development software.
Two years of experience in strategic planning and continuous improvement.
Experience with the needs and abilities of older adults and / or those living with chronic conditions
Listening skills

Familiar with virtual platforms (i.e. Microsoft Teams)
Experience leading community-based education classes
Physical Requirements :
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting / ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing / pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
