Description :

The Juilliard School is seeking a proactive and dynamic Dining Services Assessment and Events Program Administrator to manage the relationship with its food service provider.

The role is vital for maintaining and improving satisfaction levels for students, faculty, staff, and external guests. The Dining Services Liaison will work closely with the Juilliard Student Development team and the Office of Special Events.

The role reports to the Associate Dean of Student Development. The hours are typically 30 hours per week, 9 : 00am-3 : 00pm, Mon-Fri, some evenings & weekends may be required.

The salary for this role is $25 an hour.

Located on the Lincoln Center campus, the campus dining hall, the Rose Café, primarily serves the Juilliard School and School of American Ballet communities.

Chartwells Higher Ed is the dining hall’s food service provider, managing student meals, dining hall food services, catering, the Juilliard School coffee bar, and vending services.

Approximately 335 residential students maintain a required meal plan and consume 19-20 meals per week during the academic year.

Additionally, Juilliard commuter students, faculty, and staff eat regularly in the dining hall.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Juilliard and the leadership team of our dining service provider to ensure adherence to the contractual requirements of the services being provided at the campus dining hall
  • Effectively communicate the feedback and requirements of the Juilliard community to leadership of our dining services provider to ensure exceptional experiences across various food services, including the dining hall, catering services, residence hall convenience store, campus coffee bar, and vending machines.
  • Serve on the Dining Services Quality Assurance Committee; advocate for students’ needs and provide weekly feedback to the leadership team of our food service provider.
  • Regularly manage food and beverage options and catering services to ensure food service providers are adhering to their contract with Juilliard to ensure exceptional service, diverse dietary choices, and adherence to pertinent health regulations.
  • Develop an ongoing process for gathering feedback from the Juilliard community to foster a data-driven and improvement-oriented environment within dining services.
  • Collaborate with various Juilliard departments to ensure that dining services meet specific program needs, such as summer conferences, special events, and large-scale annual community events.
  • Cultivate a professional relationship with the leadership team of our food service provider to ensure alignment with Juilliard's quality, affordability, and service delivery standards.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food, beverage, and dining services, ideally within non-profit, educational, or cultural institutions, with exposure to student populations or similar demographics.
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction with a proactive approach to addressing concerns and enhancing service quality.
  • Comprehensive understanding of food and beverage operations, including vendor management, quality assurance, and service logistics.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, adept at building relationships with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and external guests.
  • Experience with a broad spectrum of dining services, from daily student dining to upscale catering for special events and donor functions.
  • Knowledgeable about health and safety regulations pertinent to food service operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a track record of achieving results and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Previous experience managing food service teams or customer-facing staff is preferred, highlighting strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Preferred Background :

  • Degree or certification in hospitality management, culinary arts, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in food service operations.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and operational challenges.
