Job Description and Duties

The Health Information Management Department at Department of State Hospitals Napa is accepting applications for a full-time, permanent Senior Medical Transcriber.

This position, under direction from the Staff Services Manager I, will be responsible for supervising staff assigned to the Transcription section of the department who complete medical and other transcription from dictated materials.

• Duties include but not limited to : transcribing average and difficult dictation accurately involving a variety of medical terms from the dictated materials;
• gathering data and preparing Continuous Quality Improvement Reports; orienting clinical staff on transcription procedures;

monitoring Winscribe dictation system; assigning priorities; and organizing and monitoring work flow within the Transcription section.
