GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior EIT with 4-6 years of experience in water / wastewater engineering to join our talented and energetic team in either our Homestead, Cranberry, or Southpointe, PA office.

An ideal candidate has planning, design, permitting, and construction experience in the water / wastewater market for municipal and / or industrial clients.

This position is an excellent opportunity to grow technical and project management knowledge, skills, and abilities for today's water and infrastructure focused environment.

Job Duties :

Assist in water / wastewater process and pipeline design projects for municipal and industrial clients.

Work on multi-discipline teams to complete water and wastewater planning, evaluation, design, and construction projects related to collection, conveyance, and distribution systems, pump stations, storage and treatment facilities, and asset upgrade / rehabilitation.

Assist with Civil / Process Engineering design projects including schematic / preliminary design, design development, final design, specifications, permitting, bid-phase services, and construction contract document production.

Participates in technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, and technical plans.

Field work may include water sampling, site inspection, and construction administration support including completing field observation reports.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, including written, oral, and good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work and interface well in a collaborative and detail-oriented project team environment.

Ensures that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements.

Possesses strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and analysis modules.

Performs moderate to water / wastewater / civil design tasks while delegating more routine tasks to staff with less experience.

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.
  • Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments.
  • Applies principles of probability and statistics to determine risk relevant to engineering.

Minimum Years of Experience

4+ years

Education

B.S. or M.S. Environmental / Civil Engineering or related

Certification / Licensure

Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering-intern (EI) certification.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Performs moderate design tasks.
  • Prepares portions of plans, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Performs research and field investigation.

Project and Task Management

  • Works as a part of a team and coordinates work with others.
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.

Management Responsibility

  • Receives instruction on specific objectives.
  • Receives direction on unconventional and / or complex problems and possible solutions.
  • Receives a thorough review of completed work for the application of sound professional judgment.
  • Receives mentorship from a licensed engineer typically in their specialty.

Communication Skills

  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates assertiveness and cooperation in managing conflicts.
  • Interacts with internal and external project team members.
  • Assists with official communication pertaining to specific assignments / meetings.
