TITLE : Pharmacy Tech
LOCATION : Downtown Minneapolis, MN
STATUS : Full-Time Contract to Hire
SCHEDULE : 9 : 30am - 6 : 00pm. (while training it will be 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm)
PAY : $20.00 - $27.00 Per Hour DOQ and DOE
This is the pay range that BAHAMA Consulting reasonably expects to pay someone for this position.
FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt (Overtime paid at 1.5X regular rate of pay)
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies.
- Prepackages, prepares, labels and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered
- pharmacist.
- Maintains cash registers, credit card machines and reporting for cash transactions.
- Prepares daily deposits for the cashier’s office.
- Bills and credits patient medications.
- Stocks inventory in Pharmacy.
- Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications.
- Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled.
- Files prescriptions and reports.
- Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion.
- Enters outpatient prescriptions
- Obtains and records patient drug histories
- Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate
- Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight
- Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order
- Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed
- Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations and symbols
- Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs
- Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
- Responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications
- Assist with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240 hour employer based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience.
