Description
POSITIONSUMMARY : Promotes the safe and effective use ofmedication for all patients of the hospital through properinterpretation of physician orders, accurate dispensing ofpharmaceuticals, and monitoring of therapy.
Providesaccurate, adequate and timely drug information to other health careproviders. Maintains and reviews patient profiles and makesrecommendations to prescribes to ensure appropriateness of therapy,avoid drug interactions and adverse reaction.
Provides forappropriate inventories of approved medication for routine,emergency, and floor stocksituation.
Requirements
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION : Bachelors ofScience in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy is required. Continuouseducation to maintain licensure is required.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSES : Licensure by New Mexico Board of Pharmacy isrequired. Continuous education to maintain licensure andcertification(s), if any, is required.
SKILLS :
- Effective verbal and written communicationskills
- Advanced mathematical skillsrequired
- Keyboarding skills are preferred(must be able to develop competence using hospital pharmacysoftware)
- Word processing skills arepreferred
- Must have the ability to work withmedical staff, nursing staff and other healthcareemployees.
EXPERIENCE : One year ofexperience as a licensed pharmacist preferred.

ENVIRONMENT :
Bloodborne pathogen B (Occasional exposure in daily duties. Littleexpected risk, but may be exposed unexpectedly to potentiallyinfectious materials.
Exposure may be superficial and limitedto a small amount of fluid.) Close quarters in a busyenvironment. Possible exposure to patients with infectiousdiseases.
Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals andallergenic drug products. Extended exposure to video displayterminals.
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS : Ability to work at a rapid pacethroughout entire shift, while under demanding workloads andstressful situations.
Hearing sufficient to use telephonesand pagers and vision sufficient to read physician orders,requisitions and reports. Hand to eye coordination sufficientfor aseptic technique.
