Pride Health is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to support our client’s medical facility based in Austin , TX . This is a 3 month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Job Title : Pharmacy Technician
Location : Austin , TX
Shift Hours : 6 : 30 AM - 11 : 30 PM / Variable 8 Hr. Shift
Duration : 3 months+
Pay range : $21-$24 per hour
IV Certification is required.
Pay rate is based on years of experience and educational qualifications.
Key Responsibilities :
Medication Preparation & Dispensing : Assist the pharmacist with the preparation, repackaging, compounding, and filling of medications.
Ensure all tasks are performed accurately and in a developmentally appropriate manner for patients of all ages (0-adult).
Controlled Substances Management : Aid in the procurement, record-keeping, storage, and distribution of controlled substances in compliance with regulations.
Data Entry : Support the pharmacist by correctly entering patient diagnoses, weight, allergies, and body surface area into the computer system to verify medication doses.
Aseptic Technique & Infection Control : Follow aseptic techniques in the preparation of sterile products. Complete annual recertification and maintain a minimum score of 90% on the aseptic technique / infection control skills and written exam.
Enforce adherence to infection control practices among staff.
Accuracy & Quality Assurance : Verify that medications prepared meet accuracy standards as verified by the pharmacist. Demonstrate competence in batch / medication / prescription order entry.
Inventory Management : Collaborate with Pharmacy Support Services to maintain adequate stock levels of medications and supplies.
Follow established procedures for stock replacement and manage non-formulary requests.
Labeling & Documentation : Ensure all medications are correctly labeled with dilution and expiration dating as per department standards and obtain pharmacist’s initial / final checks.
Qualifications :
Certifications : IV Certification preferred but not required. Please indicate if you are certified or not in your application.
Education : Required - RPHT-TX (Registered Pharmacy Technician - TX State Board of Pharmacy) or PHAR INT (Pharmacy Intern - State Board of Pharmacy).
Skills :
Knowledge of current hospital and departmental standards for pharmaceutical handling.
Strong math and reading skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to operate equipment used in the preparation of sterile products.
