Description :

The Obstetrics Registered Nurse assesses and evaluates patient needs for care rendered.

The nurse applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.

Coordinates patient care activities based on established priorities, including teaching, rounding, counseling, and discharge planning.

Directs and delegates appropriately to members of the health care team.

Communicates effectively and professionally with patients and significant others about the patient's plan of care.

Participates in performance improvement, nursing quality, and nursing research activities.

Utilizes clinical research findings in practice.

Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for nursing practice.

Delivers safe and competent patient care.

Obstetrics RNs are expected to float to the Med / Surg floor when the OB unit is empty.
