Job Title
Athletic Trainer
Nature of Work
Peru State has a staff of four full-time and one part-time athletic trainers. PSC sponsors 13 sports with approximately 400 athletes.
We have two full service athletic training facilities on-campus, with a third opening in the fall of 2024. The College is currently investing $20 million dollars in new recreational and athletic facilities.
This is a 12 month position. Sport assignment will be based on department need and discussed during interview, likely to be men's and women's basketball.
Provides preventative care, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Supervise the daily operation of the athletic training room, cleaning the athletic training room, filling whirlpools, stocking tapes, and doing inventory to ensure for smooth operation of the treatment and care of the student athletes.
Examples of Work Performed
1. Serve medical needs of the student athlete particularly in the orthopedic and musculoskeletal disciplines.
2. Assist coaches with information concerning the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of the student athlete and educate athletic staff and student athletes in matters of care and prevention of injuries.
3. Coordinate medical personnel for games as deemed necessary.
4. Plan and conduct educational sessions for athletes and coaches.
5. Assist with development of written policies for athletic training facility procedures and conduct, practice and game policy, emergency treatment policies, insurance policies, away-game injury procedures, medical reports to coaches and Athletic Director.
6. Maintain written handbook of specific rules and policies of the Athletic Training department waivers, claim forms, current treatments, injury reports etc.
7. Organize and administer inventories and budget for equipment and supplies for Athletic Training Department.
8. Perform administrative duties to ensure compliance with college, conference, and national policies
9. Provide supervision of graduate assistant athletic trainers, athletic training internship students and work study students
10. Assist with claims filing for the athletic insurance policy.
11. Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
Required Qualifications
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer; Nebraska licensure for athletic training or eligible to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field, master's preferred. Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics is preferred.
Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively with campus community.
Position will require night and weekend hours.

Certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer. Licensed by the State of Nebraska. Valid driver's license is required.
