Compensation We Offer

  • The initial compensation for this position ranges from $ - $ per hour.
  • Salary is dependent on commensurate experience above the minimum qualifications for the role and internal equity considerations.
  • The salary may also vary if you reside in a different location than the location posted.

License Differential for LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD. and select Peer Certifications.

The Program :

CSU : The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a hr min hospital diversion program available for children on a "hold" or involuntary commitment.

The CSU provides services to children experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency.

Shifts available : Preferred PM and NOC shift

JOB SUMMARY

Works within the vision, mission and philosophy of the agency. Is responsible for the general medical and psychiatric care of youth.

Applies practical nursing techniques and follows standard practices in caring for youth including recognizing typical patterns or symptoms.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assists the staff RN and Psychiatrist in the implementation of nursing processes in the agency, implementing youth’s medical treatment plan and medication orders.
  • Conducts both medical and psychiatric screening in the context of a mental health crisis, with children presenting as a danger to themselves or others
  • Coordinates, schedules, and oversees all pediatric medical treatment of youth within programs. This includes crisis response, de-esculation and if needed the initiation of higher level behavioral restraint interventions.
  • Admits and discharges youth, including completing health assessments using body charts, monthly vital signs, physical assessments, and determines physiological status.
  • Monitors and implements the systems of care delivery for pediatric nursing / medical activities and pharmacological care.
  • Schedules medical, dental and laboratory appointments considering medical requirements, service and transportation schedules.
  • Schedules external psychiatric appointments and follows-up as delegated by attending psychiatrist.
  • Follows MD orders, oversees, evaluates, and implements all activities and functions around ordering, monitoring, documenting and the handling of medications.

This includes the administration of emergency medication.

  • Maintains and manages the medical and psychiatric records and Private Health Information (PHI) in an organized and timely manner, so as to meet the standards of care, accreditation, licensing requirements, and patient care needs.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary teams, organizes and provides education to staff, parent and youth regarding health, safety, psychiatric and medication issues.
  • Is available on an on-call basis after hours and on weekends to respond to special needs of youth, including psychiatric emergencies with appropriate intervention.
  • Exercises judgment in recognizing basic symptoms indicative of adverse medication reactions; consults with supervisor and / or alerts medical staff.

Monitors medications for potential medication side effects.

  • Attends committees, team and staff meetings.
  • Performs other related responsibilities, as assigned, to support specific department / business needs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a prescribed course of study and training in a school accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians of the State of California, and received a license through the Board of Vocational Nursing or a certificate through the Psychiatric Technicians of the State of California.
  • One () year clinical experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must remain physically fit enough to keep clients self-safe. While performing these duties the employee is required to perform the following physical tasks when the need arises : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand;

If employed at a Crisis Stabilization Unit, employee is required to perform and pass a Human Performance Evaluation Test at a designated company clinic.

This will include testing for : lifting, pushing / pulling, repetitive coupling, static weight, and other required movements.

The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus."
