Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Developmental Psychology - Department of Psychological Sciences

The Department of Psychological Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in Developmental Psychology to begin AY 2024-2025.

The area of research expertise is open to any area of study within developmental psychology, with a particular interest in early childhood.

Preference will be given to candidates who conduct both basic and applied research, for example a candidate who conducts research on early cognitive and language development in diverse community settings.

The department offers a PhD program in Developmental, Cognitive, and Affective Sciences; a master’s program in Developmental Psychology with an Early Intervention Specialization (DOE EIRSTP Training grant);

an APA accredited PhD program in clinical psychology; a PhD and CAA accredited master’s program in communication sciences / speech language pathology, and undergraduate programs in psychology and communication sciences.

Candidates will be evaluated on their potential to establish a prominent, externally funded research program in developmental psychology and to excel in graduate and undergraduate teaching.

The required teaching load is two courses each semester (, Child Development, Adolescence, Early Intervention, Applied Behavior Analysis).

A PhD in Psychology or related field is required by the time of appointment. Candidates should submit 1) a cover letter, 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) a research statement, 4) a teaching statement that includes evidence of effective teaching, 5) three representative preprints / reprints, 6) a diversity statement, and 7) a list of three references.

The one-page diversity statement should explain how one’s research, teaching, and / or service have contributed to diversity, equity and inclusion within a scholarly field(s) and / or how individual and / or collaborative efforts have promoted structural justice inside and outside institutions of higher learning.

This statement should also reflect on the ways in which the candidate’s continued efforts will foster a culture of diversity, pluralism, and individual difference at Case Western Reserve University.
