CATERING MANAGER I (STUDENT UNION)
Catering Manager I (Student Union) Location Main Campus The Arizona Student Unions is looking for a Catering Manager I to join our team in the Catering Department.
As a Catering Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and coordinating the activities of the banquet department to ensure optimum performance, exceptional guest service and maximum profitability of all functions.
The Catering Manager will train and motivate staff to exceed goals. The Catering Manager will also assist in maintaining University Standards.
The successful candidate must be willing to work mornings, nights, weekends and day shifts to accommodate Catering needs.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a commitment to customer service and guest satisfaction
- Grow and sustain excellent client relationships
- Provide prompt follow-up to all guest concerns
- Professionally engage with individuals at all levels including the client, team members, faculty, and executives
- Attend internal and customer planning sessions to ensure events are executed properly and customer expectations are met
- Contribute to post-event survey distribution and review
- Take initiative to develop and execute new events
- Manage the planning and execution of catering functions to include transportation, setup, operation, and clean-up of all events
- Remain in constant communication with Assistant Director of Catering, Executive Chef and other team members to ensure high quality presentations in all aspects of the operation with a focus on attention to detail
- Effectively communicate with all departments
- Responsible for daily report input and log book entries
- Ensure that proper temperature levels for all food products during transportation, pre-service holding and service meet food safety compliance at all events
- Keep department, storage rooms and equipment clean at all times ensuring compliance with state, local board of health and department sanitation guidelines
- Ensure organization of the banquet departments storage rooms and work with Stewarding department to establish par levels for supplies and equipment
- Ensures proper handling, cleaning and sanitation of equipment, china, glass and silver
- Monitor and maintain the banquet departments systems and equipment to ensure their optimum performance
- Instill a calm, organized approach in all stressful situations
- Attend appropriate University, division and department meetings
- Retain a strong knowledge of hospitality trends, especially food and beverage
- Always maintain a professional demeanor and attitude
- Lead and supervise the banquet team
- Assist the Assistant Director of Catering with the design and implementation of training programs to include service techniques, menu presentation, policies, and procedures
- Conduct monthly staff meetings to include ongoing training and safety classes in conjunction with Assistant Director of Catering
- Work with client prior to event to review details and update BEO with any changes needed
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices in a professional discipline or specific job area
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma with a minimum of 7 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
- Must be willing to work mornings, nights, weekends, and day shift to accommodate restaurant needs.
- Must be able to lift / transport / move a minimum of 40 pounds.
