Report to : Director of Marketing and Community Relations

Salary Range : $20-$24 per hour, commensurate with experience

Position : Full-Time position with full benefits. This is a limited term position through September 30, 2025, with the possibility of extension

The Marketing and Community Engagement Coordinator will help grow the digital and community presence of the California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce (CalAsian), Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce (SacAsian), and their Foundation.

This role will manage SacAsian’s social media channels, focusing on creating engaging, community-focused content, including expanding short-form video content that promotes events and programs.

You will build relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and influencers to raise awareness of Chamber initiatives while providing real-time social media coverage during events.

The Coordinator will collaborate across teams, including Small Business Programs, Public Policy, and Membership, ensuring cohesive messaging and supporting content creation across platforms.

The ideal candidate will be highly creative, detail-oriented, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. They should be experienced in social media management, content creation, and community outreach, with the ability to engage with local businesses and drive participation in Chamber activities.

A passion for community development and an understanding of the Sacramento region will be key to success in this role. Must be located in the broader Sacramento region or willing to relocate.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Chamber Marketing and Promotion

  • Support marketing efforts across departments, including Events, Small Business Programs, Public Policy, Membership, and the Foundation by assisting with content development, ideation, and event promotion through community outreach, social media engagement, and website promotion.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align event promotion strategies across SacAsian, CalAsian, and the Foundation, ensuring consistency and shared messaging.
  • Regularly update the SacAsian website with current events, news, and program information, ensuring accuracy and engagement.
  • Serve as the primary contact for online inquiries related to the chambers, responding to questions and connecting businesses with the appropriate resources.

Social Media and Content Creation

Manage all SacAsian social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok), planning and executing content that engages local businesses and the community.

Respond to inquiries, comments, and posts to foster active conversations and increase participation in events and programs.

  • Track and analyze monthly performance across SacAsian’s digital platforms, proactively presenting ways to refine strategies.
  • Support content ideation and creation for CalAsian and Foundation social media channels to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Produce, capture, and promote community-driven content, including short-form videos, business spotlights, and event previews at events for real-time posting and future marketing use, ensuring alignment with the Chamber’s brand and marketing strategy.
  • Plan and execute the content calendar, developing original content (copy, graphics using Canva) while adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with small business members, board of directors, staff, and others to generate content for all platforms.
  • Provide live social media coverage during chamber events, ensuring real-time engagement with attendees and the community.

Community Engagement and Outreach

  • Attend local business and community events to represent the chambers and promote their events and programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and influencers to raise awareness of chamber activities, expand the Chamber’s presence, and increase its impact in the region.

General

  • Gather and analyze community feedback and event participation data to refine future marketing and outreach strategies, reporting insights to the Director of Marketing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across SacAsian, CalAsian, and the Foundation to ensure marketing efforts align with broader organizational goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Strong writing and communication skills : Ability to produce clear, engaging content for social media, websites, and other digital platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a social media or digital marketing role, preferably with a focus on community engagement.
  • Proven experience managing social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok), including planning, content creation, and analytics.
  • Experience creating short-form video content and capturing live social media coverage during events.
  • Proficiency in developing content that aligns with brand voice and marketing strategies.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and the ability to use data to refine content strategies.
  • Experience working with local businesses, community organizations, and influencers to build relationships and expand reach.
  • Basic experience with graphic design tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) is a plus.
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and platforms simultaneously.
  • Experience in non-profit or small business settings is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
