- Assign employees job duties throughout the shift.
- Communicate with policies and any situations that arise to Management.
- Maintain and oversee the keeping of proper records.
- Analyze daily activities to take corrective action or notify management of necessary steps to maintain proper quality and quantity.
- Orient new hires into the department with proper training.
- Picks, packs and ships efficiently.
- Keeps up with required metrics for departments.
- Support other job assignments as needed in the distribution center.
- Participates and leads as needed meeting with employees to go over assigned work for shift.
- Assign zones for employees and ensures proper rotation through the day.
- Ensure boxes are filled on pick lines to ensure warehouse associates are making the rate for their scheduled shift.
- Check in during the day on transfer tables to ensure work flow is good.
- Enforce Company safety policies, procedures and good housekeeping practices.
- Promote Company goals and competencies.
- Participate in communication meetings as required.
- Coordinate and cooperate with other departments to meet Company goals, objectives and projects.
- In order to properly fulfill these job requirements the Shift Leader is expected to :
o Check all operations regularly for quality, quantity, etc. to make sure correct products are being shipped and received.
o Review shipping orders in system regularly to ensure the proper ship dates are met.
o Cross-train Material Handlers and Warehouse Associates.
o Attention to detail to assure proper patterns are being shipped to the customer.
o Drive safety and conduct safety meetings as required.
Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of Management.
Required Experience
- Ability to read, write and do basic math.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the Company.
- 5+ years warehouse experience with at least 3+ years in a Lead or Supervisory role strongly desired.
- Must have experience operating equipment such as forklift, pallet jack.
- Must have order picking experience.
- Ability to carry out broad assignments, evaluate current shipping procedures / methods and make suggestions on how to improve.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
