The Investment Performance Team is responsible for producing quarterly investment performance track records, Asset Under Management (AUM) statistic reports, as well as maintaining and calculating performance information at various levels of the investment hierarchy for the enterprise.
This is accomplished through various mediums of calculation, data input, response to RFPs (Request for Proposals), handling ad-hoc requests from existing investors and senior management, creating multi-layered processes and controls, and creating creative solutions to investment performance data-related problems.
The team is actively involved in the firm’s business development initiatives and has regular communications with many departments including the Investment Teams, Compliance, Business Development, and Relationship Management.
The Performance Analytics role requires strong communication, attention to detail, analytical, technical, and relationship management skills to help manage Hamilton Lane’s enterprise investment performance systems and data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Using data analytical and other programming languages / software help create and maintain investment performance calculations and data sets.
- Balance the completion of quarterly reporting, ad hoc projects, and deliverables as requested by various partner groups supported by the performance team.
- Maintain a focus on time management, process management, and quality control.
- Have an intellectual curiosity about the private markets business to act as a consultant for data and historical performance for key partners in requests, and direct as needed.
- Handle multiple assignments / initiatives and prioritize effectively.
- Communicate with your team and other interested parties’ results, concerns, progress, and outcomes.
- Maintain an understanding of Investment Performance.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS; Education and / or Experience :
- BA / BS in related field (e.g., business / finance / engineering / information technology / mathematics / physical sciences)
- 3-5 plus years of work experience in an accounting / financial industry setting preferred
- Comfort and familiarity with large data sets, relational databases, reporting and query tools
- Aptitude for problem solving
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Advanced experience in Excel is a plus (e.g., VBA, Macros)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Access a plus
- Must have a mastery of R and SQL programming languages
- Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess good analytical skills
- Ability to operate in a high-pressure environment
- Assist with other duties and special projects as needed
- Must be able to work with all levels of management
