Sr. Mortgage Technology and Process Manager

Job Summary

The Sr. Mortgage Technology and Process Manager leads all mortgage technology software implementations, integrations, and application and oversees the development, enhancement, and maintenance of mortgage process optimization.

The Sr. Mortgage Technology and Process Manager proactively identifies, maps, documents, and improves Mortgage Lending processes;

and identifies and implements technology solutions to maximize Mortgage Lending success. This role also helps to identify and create opportunities to collaborate across all of Mortgage Lending.

The Senior Mortgage Technology and Process Manager reports to the Director of Mortgage and leads the Lending Systems Analyst team.

Essential Functions

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, inspire, motivate, mentor, and develop team members by providing guidance and training to attain departmental and individual development goals and support organizational needs.
  • Serve as a role model in transparent communication, two-way dialogue, and proactive communication to the team.
  • Lead team and department meetings to provide clarity and ensure alignment between and within Mortgage Lending teams.
  • Utilize a proactive, ethical, and consultative approach to build a successful and effective team to operate according to UFCU guiding principles, providing guidance and resources and removing obstacles as needed.
  • Create an environment that builds, encourages, and rewards teamwork, collaboration, and delivering business value
  • Provide team leadership based on servant leadership principles, caring for the whole person.
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise job results with an emphasis on coaching and developing employees to achieve desired performance results.

  • Collaborate with Mortgage Lending to develop procedures, processes, and workflows to maximize the effectiveness of technology and its impact on the member and employee experience, and employee effectiveness.
  • Optimize operational processes, workflow management, and systems integrations for Mortgage Lending.
  • Partner with Mortgage Lending leadership team and Mortgage Content Specialist to influence training development for Mortgage Lending.
  • Engage in change management through effective planning and communication with the Mortgage Lending leadership team and ensure processes are evaluated on a continual basis for efficiencies, effectiveness, and value.
  • Evaluate technology that supports, enhances, or modifies processes within Mortgage Lending.
  • Manage the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of mortgage- related systems and software.
  • Contribute to and support department strategies with a focus on user experience to deliver an elite platform for all mortgage teams.
  • Collaborate with vendors, IT, and Mortgage Lending System Analyst Team to scope and implement projects and process improvements.
  • Support Mortgage Lending leadership’s vision for how technology will be used in mortgage, by fostering innovation, implementing initiatives, and coordinating the management of current and future technology systems.
  • Manage the Encompass administrative, business analysts, and integrations teams to successfully implement, administer, test, deploy and communicate all mortgage technology.
  • Ensure that process knowledge is not only captured, but also fully communicated, shared, and accessible using traditional and technology-mediated dissemination activities and programs.

Vendor and Contract Management

  • Manage vendor relationships with partners.
  • Oversee vendor and contract management of relevant third-party contractors.
  • Manage and negotiate key vendor agreements, including scope, service levels, and key terms.

Budget / Expense Development and Management

  • In collaboration with senior leadership and other department leaders, establish annual budget with identification of planned expenses for new or enhanced programs and services.
  • Ensure effective control of results.
  • Take action to guarantee achievement of department objectives fall within designated budget.

Other

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes and communicates and implements these norms within the team.
  • Complete required regulatory training as assigned.
  • Comply with all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to the role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. Four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in Mortgage Lending
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a team manager / supervisor, leading a team of at least 10 employees
  • Proven leadership abilities, including strategic thought leadership, innovation, and execution
  • Experience with technologies related to Mortgage Lending processing and other finance-related technologies
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, highly regulated financial environment
  • Must be bondable

Preferred Requirements

  • Certifications or relevant training in any of the following areas : Lean Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Quality Management
  • Experience in banking, credit unions, and / or financial institutions
