Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

The Field Engineer works with the Project Team and Field Management to construct a safe and quality project, while beating the estimate budgets, improving the total Operating Profit margin over the original bid, and building a strong customer relationship. This position assists the Project Engineer with shop drawings, submittals, scheduling of subcontractors and materials, meetings, as-built drawings, job cost, procurement, and field operations.

  • Operate and maintain the material tracking system.
  • Comply with safety procedures and policies, addressing and elevating non-compliance among employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in daily Task Safety Awareness and weekly Safety Meetings.
  • Support Quality personnel and the project through the Quality Management System.
  • Track quantities daily and reconcile monthly for payment purposes.
  • Review foremen's reports daily to ensure accurate recording of all information before any income, cost, or inventory entry.
  • Document all Time and Material operations on a capture sheet and reconcile with the client daily.
  • Conduct two site walks a day to communicate with and learn from Foremen and Superintendents about current operations.
  • Participate in relevant daily huddles to ensure efficient and profitable project construction.
  • Establish excellent working and professional relationships with clients and their representatives and / or field inspectors.
  • Assist in the buyout process, write requisitions, and communicate all required information to the Project Team. Negotiate the best deal for cost, quality, and delivery using the company buyout procedure.
  • Produce complete purchase orders after approval by the Project Manager.
  • Understand key operational details of subcontractors and hold them accountable to their agreements. Attend subcontractor coordination meetings to update schedules, drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.

Education and / or Work Experience Requirements :

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and HCSS / HeavyJob.
  • Able to prepare reports in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, subcontractors, and ICs, along with initiative, organization, and planning skills.
  • Ability to review and understand plan specifications and drawings.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience in a field environment.
  • Proficient in written and verbal business communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions according to ADA, FMLA, and other standards, including meeting productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
