Overview :
FINRA is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the AdReg team within Business, Legal, and Enterprise Systems. This role is crucial for building a robust reporting infrastructure.
You will collaborate with engineering, business users, product management, and cross-functional teams to ensure effective data solutions and reporting capabilities.
Responsibilities :
1. Collaboration and Design :
- Work with software engineers and the product team to understand existing databases, data models, and current reporting infrastructure.
- Engage with business users and product managers to comprehend business requirements and translate them into technical data designs.
- Document reports, develop, and support technical specifications for all reporting processes.
- Create a new, scalable reporting infrastructure.
2. Development and Building :
- Design and support reporting datastores and schemas for new and existing data sources.
- Develop systems for importing and maintaining the reporting datastore in the cloud, including ETL processes and business intelligence tools.
3. Documentation and Training :
- Document datastore schemas and ETL processes in the internal wiki to establish a reporting knowledge repository.
- Share and teach reporting best practices to engineers and business users.
Qualifications :
- Experience : 7+ years in data engineering with a focus on building scalable data pipelines and infrastructures.
- Database Skills : Proven experience in manipulating, processing, and extracting data from SQL and NoSQL datastores (MongoDB preferred).
- Technical Environment : 5+ years in a technical setting using modern technologies like AWS data services (AWS Lambda, Athena) and Python data processing libraries.
- SQL Expertise : Advanced SQL knowledge with hands-on experience in relational and non-relational databases (MongoDB preferred).
- Programming : Strong programming skills, preferably in Python and Java.
- Business Intelligence Tools : Familiarity with BI tools, especially PowerBI.
- Communication : Excellent communication skills with experience supporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
